There was a topic on CC that mirrors exactly the question I am asking but it was a non active thread even before CC went away.
Question: Are there any well kept repository for incident and accident reports in canyoneering?
I gathered these types of stories from 4 places:
CC threads - many stories with good commentary
ICAD - Has good analysis but definitely missing a ton of items and often just self reports.
Canyon Tales: Good repository of cool stories that sometimes are accident and incident related
Word of Mount: “Did you know someone got stuck right here, and that SAR had to put this bolt in to rescue folks” Fun but not reliable and little analysis.
I know it is not possible because of the size of the canyon community but I think a few of the groups that have this system down are the climbers (AAC) with their yearly accidents publication and the Utah Avy.
Is there a place that offers the same level of analysis and record keeping as the above listed groups but for Canyoneering? (i dont think so).
Do yall think it would ever happen?
Is it valuable?
