Where to buy canyoneering gear?

Hey fellow canyoneers,

We live in Albuquerque, my wife and I are long-time rock climbers (including trad climbing) so have experience building anchors, just not the variety of anchors one ends up building canyoneering. We have twin 12 yr olds who climb and rappel comfortably. We’ve been doing a lot of canyons up to 3B primarily using the excellent beta on this site. The next phase for us will be rapping off natural anchors (sand traps, water bags, etc) and swims with wetsuits. We’ve been using our dynamic climbing ropes so far but will want to get a static rope or two. There’s no shop in town to buy gear from. We’d be happy to find a shop not too far away (eg, Salt Lake) to buy from and occasionally visit when we’re in the area. Any shops particularly recommended? And what items of gear would folks recommend buying, in what order? We’re not particularly cost-constrained and plan to eventually use all of it.

In Salt Lake City, I am a fan of IME. It is a small, local shop with a wide range of climbing and canyoneering gear.

CanyoneeringUSA online is another great source. It is supporting a small business (and someone I know personally) that is passionate about the desert and canyoneering.

Plus one for CUSA. only ordered from them a couple of times but was happy with the prices, shipping speed and packaging
